Training Day Method

FAQ's

Starting a new routine can be intimidating, but I've got your back. Get quick answers about how we work together below.

Getting started

Do I need to already be fit before working with a personal trainer?

No not at all. The job of your personal trainer is to help and guide you to get fit, healthy and strong.

What happens in the first session?

Your first session is an oppotunity for your trainer to assess your movement, get informed about injuries or movement restrictions, and for you to tell me about your goals.

Services & Pricing

What services does Training Day Method offer?

One-on-one and small-group personal training. Specialising in strength and conditioning, weight management, weight loss, muscle building, and nutrition guidance.

What does personal training cost in the Southern Suburbs?

Personal training costs vary depending on experience and frequency. Unlike pay-as-you-go trainers who sell single sessions, I offer structured monthly packages based on the number of sessions you commit to per week. This gives you a set, predictable price each month.

What's the difference between one-on-one and small group training?

One-on-one training offers a tailored program specific to your individual goals and requirements. Small-group personal training uses a more general program design, but because the group is small, adjustments can easily be made to accommodate each person's specific needs. Small-group training is also a more cost-effective option for each participant.

Location & Setup

Where are you based?

Based out of False Bay Fitness at 10 Evelyn Rd, Retreat, in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs. This is a fully equipped functional fitness facility, packed with all the tools required to get you closer to your goals.

Do you train clients outdoors as well?

Qualifications & Experience

What qualifications do you hold?

I hold a BA in Sports Communication from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), majoring in Human Movement Studies and Communication. My fitness education includes a Diploma and a Certificate in Exercise Science from the Health and Fitness Professionals Academy (HFPA). Additionally, I have completed the Level 1 Coaching Foundations Course and the Conjugate Pathway through Westside Barbell. I am CrossFit Level 1 and CrossFit Mobility certified, have completed Naka Athletics Gymnastics, and attended the Outlaw Way training camp, specialising in Olympic weightlifting.

How long have you been a personal trainer?

I’d like to say I've been a trainer my whole life! Sports and movement always came naturally to me, and even as a kid, I loved sharing what I figured out with my friends on the sports field.

In my early twenties, I took that passion for coaching global, traveling and working as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor at beach resorts. My official journey into the fitness industry began in 2008 when I completed my first formal personal training qualification—and I have been coaching full-time ever since.

What types of clients do you typically work with?

Busy Professionals: Individuals looking to keep their health, fitness, and energy levels in check despite a demanding work schedule.

Weekend Warriors: Active individuals looking for a competitive edge, better conditioning, or injury prevention for the sports and outdoor activities they participate in outside of work.

No matter your starting point, if you are committed to moving better and getting stronger, you will fit right in.

Training & Results

How long before I see results?

Results vary from person to person because fitness is holistic. Your progress depends on a combination of factors, including your current training experience, your nutrition, alcohol consumption, sleep quality, and daily stress levels. Training is only one piece of the puzzle—what happens outside the facility matters just as much.

With that said, if you are consistent, show up, and push your boundaries a little more each week, you can expect to notice positive shifts in your energy levels and the beginnings of weight loss within the first 4 weeks.

How many sessions per week do I need?

It depends on your availability, how quickly you want to see results, and what your body and lifestyle currently allow. If you are already active and doing some training on your own, you might not need as many coached sessions.

However, to build consistency and see real progress, I recommend starting with a minimum of 2-3 sessions per week. As you build your routine and time goes on, you can always scale up and add more sessions to your monthly package.

I have an old injury or a chronic condition. Can I still train?

In most cases, absolutely. Movement is often one of the best ways to manage chronic conditions and recover from old injuries, provided it is done correctly.

Because of my background in human movement studies, exercise science, and mobility, we don't guess—we adapt. We will modify the exercises, adjust the intensity, and scale the movements to accommodate your specific needs while keeping you safe and moving forward.

Note: Depending on the nature of your injury or condition, I may require a formal clearance from your doctor or physiotherapist before we begin training.
